Virgin's new exec aiming to make airline more nimble
VIRGIN Australia's newly minted chief commercial officer believes her recently created role will make the airline more nimble and help boost its customer focus.
The new position gives former head of sales Judith Crompton an expanded responsibility which now takes in alliances, network and revenue management over both the domestic and international networks.
Alliances and network were previously separate and the domain of Merren McArthur, who now heads newly acquired regional and charter subsidiary Skywest Airlines in Perth.
"We're a nimble company anyway; we move at a rapid pace," Ms Crompton said yesterday. "And I guess this is cranking up that speed a little more now to get the network, the (revenue management) teams and the sales teams working a lot closer for speed to market and to be more nimble."
Previously the head of global corporate sales at Etihad, Ms Crompton has three decades of experience in the aviation and travel industries, with management experience at Qantas, Flight Centre and TQ3 Navigant.
